What is the Dometic Refrigerator Recall?

Dometic Corporation makes the Dometic Brand RV Refrigerators and there has recently been a new recall that has effected thousands of model and serial numbers. Most people will be informed to check their unit by letter from the manufacturer of the RV. This letter explains in detail about the recall. If you do have a Dometic refrigerator and have not received a recall notice due to buying it private party, moving or some other circumstance in which the manufacturer was not able to contact you please check the list of model number and serial numbers this recall effects below.

Dometic Refrigerators with the following model numbers are effected: NDR1062,RM2652, RM2662, RM2663, RM2852, RM3662, RM3663, RM3862, RM3863. If you have one of the above model numbers please check your serial number to make sure if falls within the following numbers: 101XXXXX through 152XXXXX, 201XXXXX through 252XXXXX, 301XXXXX through 319XXXXX, 713XXXXX through 752XXXXX, 801XXXXX through 852XXXXX, 901XXXXX through 952XXXXX, 001XXXXX through 052XXXXX. If your serial number does not fall withing the above serial numbers your unit is not effected by the recall. If your unit does have a serial number that falls within the recall effected numbers please see below.

If it is the "off" season and your unit is not being operated currently you are not at any risk. Check your unit once it is out of storage or you able to access the unit. The recall is primarialy for the gas operation of the RV refrigerator. If you are currently using your unit please check the back of the unit for any signs of leakage, residue, stain or a smell of ammonia. If your unit looks normal please stop using the gas operation and switch to using the electric (110 Volt) operation until the recall has been completed. If you unit seems abnormal please stop using the unit all together until the unit has been checked. If you have lost cooling the recall may not correct the problem and a new cooling may need to be installed to remedy the problem. Please contact us if your unit is under the recall, we have the recall kits in-stock and can install them . If your unit is parked in a campground seasonally and you are not able to move it, there will be a service call charge for doing the recall. If you are able to drop the unit at our shop for the recall there will be no charge. We ask that you be patient with us regarding the recalls, there is a large amount of them that need to be completed and a very short season to complete them. Please call our service department and ask for Darla concerning any questions and if your unit is under the recall.
